On behalf of the ULMWP and the people of West Papua, I send my deepest sympathy and solidarity to the people and government of Vanuatu as you battle this devastating earthquake.
I was deeply saddened to hear that fourteen people have died so far, and would like to convey my condolences to the families of all those who have lost loved ones during this tragedy. Government buildings, marketplaces, and residential houses have also been destroyed.
To the people of West Papua, I ask that you hold prayer meetings in solidarity with your Wantoks in Vanuatu. I also ask that you support fundraising activities to help with Vanuatu’s recovery. Vanuatu is our closest and most important friend, and we must stand with them in their time of crisis as they have always stood with us in ours.
May God bless Vanuatu during this extremely difficult time. West Papua is with you.
